Dental Services at
Amazing Smiles

Here at Amazing Smiles, we are very pleased to offer a full range of dental services so our patients can get the care they need without transferring from one provider to another. This is especially important for busy families, professionals and businesspeople on tight schedules. Take a look below at the many dental services we offer and then call us so we can help you with any questions or schedule an appointment for you.

Prevention and Cleanings

Along with your daily at-home care, visiting our office for regular dental cleanings and examinations is the most important thing you can do to preserve your teeth. During your visit for a cleaning, our dental hygienist will first perform a dental examination for overall oral health. She will then remove plaque and calculus (also called “tartar”) from your teeth to help prevent decay and gum disease, and finish by polishing your teeth. In addition to improving your dental health, your teeth will have a new sparkle!

Gum Disease Care

If your gums bleed when you brush your teeth or get your teeth cleaned, or if they have sore, swollen spots, you probably have an early stage of gum disease. More advanced stages can cause bad breath, loose teeth and receding gums.

Fortunately, gum disease is treatable. We can help by cleaning your teeth under the gum line, which enables us to clear out infected tissue. Smoothing any irregularities on the roots of your teeth further aids healing; plus, we can place long-lasting antibiotics to fight infection. The best way to prevent gum disease is with twice-daily brushing and daily flossing. Please ask us if you have any questions about the right at-home routine to prevent gum disease.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

These days, most of our patients ask us for tooth-colored fillings because they like not having dark-colored metal fillings in their mouths. Tooth-colored fillings are very durable and bond better to tooth material than metal fillings. With metal fillings, a larger amount of tooth had to be drilled out along with the decayed area so the metal filling could be secured in the tooth. The composite material for tooth-colored fillings is a combination of plastic and glass which seals tightly to tooth material, making a long-lasting bond and eliminating the need for this extra drilling.

Root Canals

When decay has broken through to the root of a tooth, that root must be replaced with sterile materials to preserve the tooth. Once the area has been fully anesthetized, the root area of the tooth will be fully cleaned out, filled with clean material and sealed up. We recommend that this tooth be crowned to strengthen it so it can last the rest of your life.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

A dental crown is an extremely durable porcelain cap that fits over a tooth to strengthen and protect it. When a tooth has had root canal therapy or a large filling, or it has suffered damage such as a crack or fracture, a crown preserves that tooth. A bridge is actually three (or more) crowns in a row and is used to fill in for a missing tooth. The center crown replaces the missing tooth and the crowns on either side fit over adjacent teeth to anchor the bridge. Both solutions are natural-looking and long-lasting solutions to a damaged smile.

When a tooth has suffered severe trauma or disease, it may not be able to be saved, Extraction and replacement with a bridge or dental implant are better solutions. When are extractions needed?

A baby tooth may need to be extracted to give permanent teeth room to come in properly, and for orthodontic work, sometimes teeth need to be extracted when there is simply not enough room for them to be properly aligned. Extracting a tooth near the front of the mouth with only one or two roots is a simple procedure of numbing the area and rocking the tooth gently to ease it out of the socket. When a tooth has multiple roots or, like many wisdom teeth, it is fixed in the jaw and unable to emerge normally, a more surgical approach would be needed.

With the practiced skill of Dr. Chubb and the good health of a patient, even complicated extractions can be recovered from quickly.

Dental Implants

This is your best method of permanent, fixed replacement of a missing tooth. A dental implant consists of a slender titanium post (the actual implant) placed in the jawbone and a durable porcelain replacement tooth that will be anchored atop the implant. Dental implants can be used to restore one tooth or many teeth. With care, they can last one’s lifetime and require no more care than one’s natural teeth. They are a beautiful solution to missing teeth that look and function just like your natural teeth.

Sedation Dentistry

For anxious or fearful patients, a visit to the dentist can be terrifying and traumatic. To give them access to the dental care they need to keep their teeth healthy, we offer nitrous oxide sedation. This is a sedative that acts quickly and helps calm a person during treatment. They will remain conscious and able to speak throughout the visit and the effects will wear off quickly as soon as treatment is done. If anxiety makes it difficult for you to get the care you need, please speak to us about your concerns.

Dentures and Partials

When multiple or all teeth have been lost, complete dentures and partial dentures restore one’s smile and ability to chew one’s food. A complete denture replaces all the teeth on either the upper or the lower jaw. A partial denture replaces a few teeth in a row and fastens to the adjacent teeth.

Sleep Apnea

A person with sleep apnea will wake up gasping for breath many times each night. This disturbed sleep makes a person tired and groggy during the day and can contribute to serious health problems. Consult with us so we can fit you with a device to improve your nighttime breathing and help you have a better night’s sleep.

Dental Emergencies

The faster a dental emergency can be cared for, the better our chances of saving a tooth and speeding healing. If your tooth is knocked out or broken, please call us immediately and keep the tooth or piece of tooth clean and bring it with you. When a tooth has been knocked out completely, avoid touching the root. For lost crowns, fillings, toothaches or other problems, please consult with us immediately. We can advise you on temporary solutions to make you feel better until we can schedule your arrival.
